Next Stop: Augsburg, Germany

My name is Dalind Wilson, I am a first year mechanical engineering major in the Swanson School at the University of Pittsburgh. I was born in Lansing, Michigan, but I’ve lived in Bear, Delaware for most of my life. A few interesting things about me, I’m 6′ 4″, I’ve been to all 50 states, and over 20 countries, and I was a vegetarian for 3 years. Despite my extensive traveling I am still very excited to visit Germany and experience the culture and industry of the country.

I chose Pitt Plus3 because it provided a unique opportunity to experience a new country and gain academic credits, without devoting a large portion of my summer to traveling. The early schedule for Plus3 also made it easier for me to devote the remaining portions of the summer to spending time with family and friends or doing research. Furthermore, I have always been fascinated by fast and expensive cars, and visiting Germany provides a chance to see the international automotive industry first hand. Finally, I will be spending time with other engineering students and even business students that have similar interest to me and may show me unique perspectives that I hadn’t considered. These factors all culminate to a valuable experience that will expand my outlook on the world and prove to be a key event in my education and growth here at Pitt. I am very excited to take off in less than a month’s time.
