Day 5: High Speed Trains & the Muslim Street

Today was a traveling day. We finished Beijing and we are in Xi’an now! We used high speed trains to travel from Beijing to Xi’an. The trip was 6 hours, but time actually flew by pretty quickly! I got some work done on the train and it was convenient because they had outlets at every seat! Once we got to Xi’an, we visited the Drum Tower, had a dumpling dinner (more like feast), and walked back through the Muslim Streets to get back to the hotel.

The Drum Towers had – you guessed it- a lot of drums. My favorite part was what followed. The dumpling dinner we had was the most authentic Chinese experience ever (for me) because I have never had dumplings before coming to China! They kept bringing out different varieties of dumplings (chicken, shrimp & pork, squid, and more!). Thinking about all the dumplings I ate makes me want to puke. I think I ate at least 12!!!! They were SO good except for a couple questionable ones like chestnut??

After eating all those dumplings, we walked through this crazy market street filled with vendors selling souvenir items and food! It was so chaotic and I loved it! It was like being in  a busy food market in India. The street was endless and a lot of the vendors sold the same things, so I wonder how to know which one is the best.

That marks the end of our first night in Xi’an and I can’t wait to see what tomorrow has in store for us.
