Vung Tau Valuable Trip

Today, May 5th 2018, we took the entire day to visit the beautiful city of Vung Tau. It was about a three hour bus ride to the resort which consisted of one stop along the way. While traveling to Vung Tau, I noticed that there was a lot less development than Ho Chi Minh City. I also noticed that the temperature increased by several degrees, which meant that all the people were wearing more layers of clothing to protect their skin from the intense sun. Once we reached Vung Tau, we hiked up the mountain and visited the Jesus statue which was hard work, but certainly rewarding. I was drenched in sweat by the time I got to the top of the mountain and my stomach felt very uncomfortable. Even through the discomfort, I managed to climb to the top of the statue and look out over the entire city. It was the most beautiful view I had ever seen, and it reminded me a little bit of an overhead view of Miami Beach or Fort Lauderdale Beach because of the large coastline and tall buildings. After climbing the mountain, we went back down to a resort where we ate lunch and hung out at the beach. The resort had a beautiful beach along with a swimming pool and the water was very warm in both areas, which took me by surprise. The pool had a separate area where there was a “cold tub” rather than a traditional hot tub in the United States. Overall, I thought Vung Tau was a very unique place, but it certainly reminded me of other resorts in the United States.
