So Fancy!

Today was definitely more laid back than yesterday. We went on a fashion tour around Milan, and every store I saw was expensive! It’s really weird for me to see how regularly Italians buy designer brand clothes, especially when I’m used to shopping in cheap stores like Forever 21. We stopped inside the department store Excelsior, which was nothing like department stores in the US. I was expecting to see something similar to Macy’s, but boy was I wrong. There were seven floors in the store and almost everything they sold was luxury. There were two floors dedicated to groceries/wine, one floor for miscellaneous gadgets, one floor for men’s fashion, and three whole floors for women’s clothes and fashion pieces.

After the walking tour, we had a group lunch where we ate risotto and veal. Then, we had some free time so we walked around for a little and got gelato! Later, we had a lecture from a representative of the Bottega Velasca shoe company, which was actually very interesting. She told us about how all of their shoes are hand made, and who their target customers are. They tailor to adult males, the average age being 40 years old, and their prices are reasonable for the quality of their product. When the lecture was over, went to get dinner, and I ate the best pizza I’ve had here so far!
