Let The Shenanigans Begin!

Hi everyone! My name is Abbey Vinisky and I am from Jenners, Pennsylvania which is about two hours east of Pittsburgh. I knew from a young age that I wanted to go to school in Pittsburgh and so when it came time to pick a University, I chose the one in the heart of the city — Duquesne University. After my first year, I decided that it was not right for me and I would transfer to the University of Pittsburgh. I transferred from one University to another and went from a student in the School of Arts and Sciences to a student in the College of Business Administration so it was all-around a huge transition.

I am currently finishing up my sophomore year majoring in Human Resources Management and gaining a certificate in Sports Management which is a brand new certificate that Pitt is beginning to offer this coming fall! After obtaining my Bachelor’s degree, I plan to attend law school and study corporate law. At Pitt, I am involved in the Human Resources Club and Women in Business. This summer, I will be working as a Pitt Pathfinder; giving tours of the University and offering my knowledge and experiences to prospective students — hopefully giving them the opportunity to love Pitt as much as I do. Along with being a Pathfinder, I will be working as the Legal and Human Resources Intern with the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. Go Bucs! In the future, I hope to be able to combine my love for Human Resources, Law, and sports in whatever way that may be.

This May, I am traveling to Dublin, Ireland with Pitt Business to explore globalization through the technology and innovation industries. The Ireland +3 program is convenient in giving me the opportunity to have a fulfilling abroad experience while still allowing me to come back in time for my summer internship. I am excited about this program because it will give me the opportunity to grow my professional portfolio on a global scale. I will have the opportunity to network through company visits and communicate with the individuals who make it all happen. Aside from a professional standpoint, I am eager to delve into Irish culture by trying new food, meeting locals, and sightseeing. This is my first time traveling abroad and I am excited to witness another way of life apart from the one I know. I can not wait to see what Ireland has to offer!
