What’s up, everyone! My name is Dylan Lipner and I am a freshman in the College of Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh. I am from Dix Hills, New York which is on Long Island (not “in” Long Island) about an hour East from New York City. I went to Pitt because I am a city kid and wanted to experience what a city-based school has to offer. On campus, I am a member of the Delta Upsilon chapter of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and I am also an active player on the Pitt Club Baseball Team. I have played baseball my entire life and can’t say I love any sport more. When I’m not on the ball field, I love playing Xbox, lifting weights, hanging with friends, and supporting my New York Islanders.
I have not declared a major yet, but I am very interested in the fields of accounting and finance, most likely with a certificate in international business. I come from three generations of Certified Public Accountants and have been exposed to the business world my entire life, hence why I am pursuing these majors. Studying abroad will be a great opportunity to see a different aspect and culture within the business realm. I want to ultimately earn an MBA from the College of Business Administration and go on to graduate school to enhance my business knowledge in the field I choose to pursue.
I am taking part in the Pitt Plus 3 trip to Korea for two weeks to learn about the vast implementation of smart systems into Korean society. No one can positively tell what the future has to bring but I can confidently say that smart systems already has had a great impact on everyday life and business, and will continue to grow and influence both.
Traveling with my family and friends has always been inspiring and adventurous for me. I have traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and a few Caribbean Islands; all of which have left me wanting to seek and go beyond where I have been. Venturing outside of the Western hemisphere to South Korea will be a brand new experience for me, one that I am anxiously awaiting. I am so fascinated by the differences in culture in Korea from the U.S. I want to learn about how I can implement some aspects of everyday Korean life into my own. This will further enhance the person I am and wish to become. What an amazing opportunity I have been given not only to learn but to experience these things first hand. This personal introduction as to how smart systems have developed and changed industries in not only Korea but throughout the world is just the beginning of the knowledge base I intend to acquire in order to make my impact in the world of business. I am a proud Pitt student who will live up to the Pitt Business slogan “From the classroom. To the city. To the World” along this journey. 우박, 피트!
