Good morning, afternoon, or night. Being on two different planes for a total of seventeen to eighteen hours takes a toll on you being able to tell the time. During the past twenty-some hours I have had just the best time. I’ll start from the beginning. My journey begins on Friday, May 3rd at ten o’clock in the morning. I had gotten all my belongings packed for South Korea, and everything was looking on schedule. My dad and I then left from Harrisburg and took the turnpike west to Pittsburgh. I was the one who drove to Pittsburgh which allowed my dad to get some rest before the trip back. With a large black ice coffee in hand and a variety of country music in the background, we were off.
Nothing too eventful occurred during the drive to Pittsburgh until I looked out the window and saw Cathy for the first time in a little over a week. After my father and I pulled into Nordenberg Hall, I was thoroughly checked into my room, and he left for Harrisburg. Later that night the Plus 3 Korea group visited a local Korean restaurant for our dinner. The dinner was filling and delicious and put me in the mood for a long nap. Alas, this was not meant to be. When we returned to campus, I was met with a very fluffy and large pillow which did not match well with my neck. Also, I was met with a glaring light from a chandelier in Amos Hall. Who has a whole chandelier in Amos Hall?
Anyway, our wakeup call rolled around, and my alarm rang at a cool three o’clock in the morning. A group of guys on our floor rushed the bathrooms to claim a spot for the sinks and the showers. I’m not going to lie, the showers in Nordenberg Hall are like a Hotel Shower compared to Bruce Hall (Still love Bruce Hall though). When everyone was ready, we packed the Coach Bus and headed to the Pittsburgh Airport. From the airport in Pittsburgh, the group quickly checked in and got on the plane to Dallas, Texas. This plane ride was relatively smooth being that I was able to sleep for most of the time. Then came the beast — a fourteen-hour plane ride straight to Seoul, South Korea. Loading up on two Chicken Sandwiches and a cup of water, I was ready to board the plane. When we boarded, I immediately got situated and braced myself for the ride. During the trip, I was able to watch several movies, read several pages of my book, listen to country music, and thankfully sleep. Although the ride was long, I was fortunate enough to be placed in an aisle seat which allowed for more leg room and gave me the chance to stretch my legs. Most of the ride was bland and went as expected. However, there was this one point during the flight that we were flying over the Russian wilderness which reminded me of the ending of the first Captain America movie which was cool. Once the plane landed, we shuffled out of our seats and stepped into the Seoul International Airport.
