In arriving to Costa Rica and meeting my host family I realized I did not know even close to enough Spanish to be able to understand anything they were saying to me. Once I got over that stark realization, and embraced my ability to charade what I need to say, I was able to take in the amazing-ness of Costa Rica.
When getting here I must admit it is not what I expected. I expected a very green foresty area when in reality Heredia is very much so a city, which came as a surprise to me (a good one)! Our walking tour today showed me the true beauty and culture that Heredia holds. Since it was Sunday we saw many church goers out and about. We even walked past an outdoor mass in one of the parks! This was super interesting to see as it is not something I stumble upon often in America.
The food here has by far exceeded my expectations. I don’t really know what kind of food I was expecting, but I was not expecting it to be as delicious as it is. I definitely appreciate all of the delicious fruits they have here and can not believe I have been missing out on them my whole life.
I am so excited to learn more about Costa Rican culture (an to eat more amazing food)! Adios for now!
