Today was another culture day and we went to Estancia, a nearby Gaucho Ranch in Las Pampas. We were greeted with the promise of plenty of food and fun, and let me just say, they did not disappoint. After a breakfast of empanadas and a brief walking tour of the buildings, we were left to roam on our own. We took turns taking a carriage ride through the fields and while it was just grass and meadows, there was something deeply beautiful about it and it commanded attention in the late morning light. After this, a group of us walked around and took pictures, looked at the horses and piglets, and made a new friend Coco, the parrot on the ranch. The scenery and buildings were so stunning, and the Gaucho culture was so unique and exciting to be immersed in. The Gauchos are the Argentinian equivalent to the cowboys.

Lunch was a traditional barbeque, or asado, with a live performance of one of the most talented singers I have ever heard before. There were also two dancers who performed several traditional dances including the Argentinian tango. Several of us were also invited up to learn the basis of the tango and it was so much fun to stumble around and pretend we were as talented as the professionals. After lunch we were treated to a Gaucho show, where several people on the ranch demonstrated and competed in Gaucho games on horseback. It was so much fun to watch and cheer on the “Latin Lover” Lucca, who yes, was definitely given the nickname for good reason. Overall the day was truly a lot of fun and I would definitely recommend it to anybody travelling to beautiful, beautiful Buenos Aires.

I can’t end this blog post today, however, without mentioning what day it is because it’s Mother’s Day! My mom is one of the best people I know and without her I wouldn’t be where I am today without her, quite literally. She encourages me to be my best and always knows what I need. I can’t wait to see her soon so I can celebrate her in real life. Love you mucho!!!!
