The Plus Three Program has been the best experience of my entire life. I don’t know any other school that has a study abroad program, this rich in culture and experience, given to freshman. Before I had committed to Pitt I was looking into each specific school that I had been accepted to. Every school had their own touch and special front to sell you on their school. It wasn’t until I had a meeting with administrators and a student representative at CBA that I really made up my mind about Pitt. When I had mentioned I was interested in the automotive industry they had told me about the Plus Three Germany program. I immediately knew that Pitt was right for me. Not only because I wanted to apply for this program but this program showed me how many opportunities Pitt offers. With that, I committed to Pitt. After getting in, Germany was all I could think about. I had a lot of expectations, and the Plus Three Program exceeded every single one.
I was nervous about the early mornings and late nights, but it made the days full and we took advantageous of every moment. I was more than excited about seeing Audi, but I can honestly say that each sight tour was captivating and fun. I learned even more than anticipated, about the automotive industry. Germany exceeded my expectations, I have a new love for the entire country.
What surprised me the most was the relationship we had with the University of Augsburg students. They were so kind and welcoming, it was genuinely hard to say goodbye to everyone. How close we got with everyone made the experience that much better.
I cannot decide whether my favorite day was the first, or the day of my Audi tour. It was so fun and exciting to meet everyone that first night. I expected the students to be nice but never to genuinely want to get to know everyone. That is the big standout for the Germany trip compared to other countries.
This trip has genuinely had a lasting impact on me. Something I was not expecting was it taught me to take advantage of every day. At first having every day planned out for me was slightly daunting, but I learned that if you take advantage of every day there is so much you can achieve.
I will forever remember this experience and carry it with me every day. This has truly changed my life for the better and I am ever so grateful for being accepted in this program.
