Free Day in Busan

Today we had a free day to do whatever we wanted, so the first thing I did was sleep in. We had been getting up relatively early (by a college student’s standard) the entire trip, so it was nice to get a bit of extra sleep, specially with the long travel day tomorrow. So, after sleeping in, I took the subway to the Busan Museum of Art, which is a free museum that houses modern Korean art. I really enjoyed exploring this museum, because it was different than most art museums I have been to, because it contained solely Korean art. In museums in America and Europe, there is not much Korean art, especially modern or contemporary Korean art, so it was cool to see things that I do not really have a chance to see anywhere else.

After exploring the museum I got lunch in the attached restaurant, where I got a sandwich that was a Korean take on an American barbecue sandwich. It was not very good, but I guess that’s what I get for straying away from the local food.

In the afternoon I returned to the hotel to help prepare my group’s presentation for tonight’s dinner. Each group was tasked with coming up with and presenting an idea for a company that is either based in Korea and utilizes american business ideas, or a company based in america that uses Korean business ideas. My group came up with an idea for a crowd sourcing app for Korea that tells the user where public trash cans are located. That was a problem many of us had during the trip, since we were used to there being trash cans everywhere in the city.

After presenting our idea at dinner we got to eat a delicious seafood buffet, which was a great way to spend the final meal of the trip, because tomorrow we would be starting our long journey home.
