ICN to DFW to Trouble: Homebound

Today was certainly a long one. It began early in the morning, leaving the hotel around 7am to head back up the country to the Incheon International Airport near Seoul. With a few rest-stops, we made it to the airport and it really became clear that our time here was quickly over. After working our way back through customs and security we found ourselves at the gate for our flight. Jordan and I went to get some Auntie Anne’s pretzels and we discovered that they have pretzel sticks in Korea instead of the usual pretzel bites. I got a pretzel-dog and it was quite delicious. Next up was the 12.5 hour flight to Dallas involving the usual time-wasting movies, chess, and sleeping. I got a cool time-lapse of the landing, however.

Once we arrived in Dallas, the real mess began with almost every flight delayed or cancelled entirely. I got stuck at the end of a fully wrapped immigration and customs line which consumed the next 30 minutes of my life. I then made my way out of the airport and found a shuttle to Terminal C where I stood in line to speak with someone who could hopefully help me get home. The best option I had was to leave the next morning, so I abonded the airport and made my way to a hotel, where I watched Pawn Shop as I could not sleep from the flight. Early morning comes around and I check out of the hotel at 5am to get to the airport and start making my way home. Two more flights and roughly 7 more hours and I was back in the Valley of the Sun. I still can’t believe how soon the trip feels to have ended, and it’s even crazier to think of all the different things I experienced in such a short amount of time.
