My name is Alec Patterson and I am a current freshman at the University of Pittsburgh – Greensburg campus. I am studying for a dual-major in Secondary Education and History, with a minor in Psychology and certificate in gifted education. I am an active member of the SPSEA chapter on our campus and spend my free time in the library studying or reading. Other hobbies of mine include studying family history and visiting historical sites or natural parks. My professional goals include my hopes to someday become a high school history teacher or further my academic studies into the fields of theology or patristics to teach at a religious institution.
I chose the Plus3 UK program because I thought it would be incredibly applicable to my goals and because I always wanted to study abroad. The fields of education and nursing are becoming some of the most diverse places in our society due to the impacts of globalization. I am hoping that while I am in the UK I will be able to find specific similarities and differences in the Anglosphere between the United States and the UK. Beyond academic reasons, I also hope to expose myself to a new culture with new ideas while abroad.
