Hi everyone! My name is Jason Bliss and this is my first blog post! I am part of the “outside of Philly” population here at the University Of Pittsburgh. I am from a small town called Douglassville, which is forty or so minutes from Philadelphia. Here at the University of Pittsburgh, I am in the School of College Business Administration planning on majoring in Marketing with two certificates, Sports Management and International Business. This trip to Germany will actually be my first time traveling out of the country, and I am so excited to learn all about the people in it. I am also looking forward to trying out all the different foods they have to offer and how it compares to the food here.
There were multiple reasons why I wanted to get into the Plus3 program, and choose Germany in particular. The Plus3 program seemed like such a great opportunity to get study abroad experience early on during college. I know I want to do future study abroad experiences so that is why I love the whole aspect of this program, because it will prepare me for those experiences as well. I chose Germany in particular, because I felt that out of all the countries listed, Germany was one where I didn’t know a whole lot about their culture in particular. I also am very excited to be learning all about the business and engineering side of the automotive industry and to visit big companies like BMW.
While in Germany there are several things I hope to achieve. Academically I want to gain the experience abroad, and use that experience I gain when I go on other study abroad trips. Personally, I want to learn about the German culture and interact with the German students to find out what a day in their life is like and how it is similar or different to mine.
Thank you! I look forward to writing about everything I experience while in Germany!
