First day at Cyprus was solid. I started off the day bright and early at 8:00 am when I went to get breakfast in the hotel. They had meats, cheeses, and baked goods, and it all was amazing. After that, the group went on a tour of the new city. The vibe of Cyprus and the new city is totally different than that of the states. There was much more greenery and people eating in outdoor cafes than what you would see in a city like Philly. The temperature is also perfect to go outside and walk around. I found many local places I want to try too!
After that tour, we took a trip to the University of Nicosia (in the image). The university is super nice and the housing they have for the students is absolutely amazing. The dorms look like beach condos which I am very jealous of. The university itself and the environment its in is beautiful.
After a short and much needed break, we toured the old city. The old city is absolutely beautiful. My favorite part was most definitely all the trees and little streets they have around. That’s the exact vibe of the place I want to live in the future. I would love to explore it more in my free time as it seems like there are so many backroads and alleys that we did not go to. Some locals also were waving to us and saying hi from balconies which was amazing. Everyone is so nice and open to greeting new visitors. In the tour information itself, the most interesting part I learned was probably how when Cyprus was split, they split that one workshop as well with barbed wire. The workshop is now a nightclub, but the barbed wire is still inside it which is pretty cool.
Lastly, we went to dinner at a typical Cyprus restaurant where the food is brought out and shared amongst everyone there. It was a great experience and the food itself was amazing. Also, a cat jumped on me and wanted my lemon. Of course I did not let him have my lemon (it was a fantastic lemon).
Tomorrow, I am looking forward to meeting with Medochemie and learning more about their company. I also want to try some of the local places I found in the new city! peace
