First day in the City of Flowers!

With day one in Costa Rica coming to a close, I want to reflect on how my expectations compared to what I have experienced so far! While I knew that Costa Rica had entered it’s rainy season, I was still a little surprised to be greeted by a torrential downpour on our first day here (maybe I should have brought an umbrella). Besides that, the scenery was pretty much what I thought it would be, though it’s much prettier to see in person than in pictures. Regarding the people, I wasn’t sure how well my spanglish would translate here, but everyone I’ve encountered has been so kind and very understanding of the language barrier we have. That was probably what I was most nervous about coming onto this trip, so I’m glad it hasn’t been too difficult yet.

Overall, my first impression of Costa Rica was definitely positive! I really enjoyed taking a walking tour through Heredia today because it gave me a better understanding of the city and country in general, in regards to how Costa Ricans live their daily lives. My favorite part of the day was definitely trying the tropical fruits. I had mammon and passionfruit for the first time and they were both so delicious! I’m excited to continue trying new things on this trip and making the most out of my time in Costa Rica!
