Today we had meetings with two companies: Medochemie, a pharmaceutical company, and Wargaming, a video game company. First, we took a bus to Limassol where Medochemie has a facility and listened to a few of the employees talk about the company and what they do. They talked about the different processes they go through to ensure the quality and safety of their drugs, how they’ve expanded their business to other countries such as Netherlands and Vietnam, and gave us a tour of their warehouse where they house their inventory. After that, we took the bus back to Nicosia and went back to the university where we ate lunch and relaxed for a couple of hours before our meeting with wargaming. The employees from Wargaming talked about the different aspects of coming up with and developing their games. One thing that they focused on for a while was the lifecycle of a new game as it goes from the idea stage to the actual product stage when it is ready to be played. This process involved a lot more time and effort than I had previously thought and it was interesting to learn how much goes into the development of their games after the idea is born. Finally, we headed back to our hotel to spend the rest of the day getting food and exploring the area.
