Day 2: getting down to business

Day two started much earlier than day one, but the double shot cappuccino was enough of an incentive to begin the day.

We started the day with a scenic bus ride to our first company visit, Medochemie. You could smell the sea salt in the air as we got closer to Limassol and the Mediterranean came into view. The sea is a beautiful royal blue, tempting to jump in. Medochemie was an interesting company that specialized in pharmaceutical products in forms ranging from pills to injections. The building was very modern and bright. This was an amazing opportunity to learn more about supply chains in a real world perspective. Something interesting I learned was more about the effects of recalls and solutions to issues that the company has faced. I also find it amazing that the company’s revenue is 300 million euros with a relatively small group of around 1,000 and a little more employees. We ended the meeting with a tour of the warehouse, and then lunch at the university after a drive.

Next we had our last meeting of the day at the University of Nicosia. Here we learned more about the Wargaming company and operations.  The Wargaming company was very interesting, even with my little knowledge of video games I was able to understand the concepts talked about. It was intriguing to see the complicated process of developing and managing successful games. There was practically the smartest man I have ever met speaking in front of us.

To end the day we went back to the hotel and got ready for dinner. We went to a local restaurant and ordered delicious food along with some tasty drinks! Very excited to see the Limassol Castle and old port tomorrow, getting closer and closer to swimming in the Mediterranean!
