Today we visited Medochemie and Wargaming. Our first visit was Medochemie, a pharmaceutical company located in Limassol, Cyprus. The goal of Medochemie is to provide quality products at a low cost. Their products are based on products that are already in the market with this goal in mind. The supply chain of this company consists of the strategic, tactical, and operational aspects. The strategic aspect involves business and budget planning. The tactical aspect involves sales and operational planning. The operational aspect involves a master scheduling of materials, capacity requirements, order releasing, and the execution and control of the product. Many companies locate their headquarters in Cyprus because there are no government taxes. Medochemie also uses the Good Manufacturing Process which are guidelines given by the government to ensure drugs are produced at a high quality level. With the recent events of the Ukraine crisis, Medochemie was affected because of their offices in Ukraine. This company plays the role of the production, sale and distribution of medicines, medicinal/pharmaceutical products in the supply chain.
The second company we visited was Wargaming. The supply chain management that is involved in the production of their products begins with the idea. In the idea part, the company must answer a few questions: Is there a market? Does it fit the brand? Do they have the capacity to build it? Do they have the budget? Wargaming has a big aspect of the legal documentation which includes legal information that stays within the company and end user license agreement. This company plays the manufacturing aspect of the role in the supply chain. They produce their product to sell on online platforms. In order to market their products to cater each person, Wargaming uses different techniques and strategies based on the location so advertising is different in each country. They focus on selling the game in countries where World War 2 was prevalent, since the game is based on it. Wargaming has two phases, the Alpha and Beta phase. Employees test out the game during the Alpha phase to determine if it has any flaws. The public tests out the game in the Beta phase to see what can be improved before it is officially released.
