This morning was an even earlier wake-up call, with our busiest schedule yet. One of the main reasons I applied for the program is the benefit of visiting one of the biggest car manufacturers in the US and the world, BMW!
Webasto was a unique company, with an entire campus (including a really cool river and Tennis house for their employees) full of buildings and production. We learned about their main product line of supplying car rooftops to major automobile manufacturers, as well as their other products such as electric vehicle chargers. I really liked the core values of the company, going along with the common trend of sustainability.
Concluding our visit, we hopped on the bus to drive into Munich to finally see BMW! The BMW plant was by far the coolest of all the other production plants. As it turns out, the company has over 200 automated robots involved in production within their Munich plant. It was fascinating to see each step of production on such a large scale. My favorite part of the visit was seeing two of the cars featured in the 007 movies, my favorite series of all time.
After finishing 3/5 company visits on a schedule-packed day, I was happy to finally get back to the hotel and get some much-needed rest. More updates to come!
