day 5

Today was finally a day that I did not have to wake up at the dreaded 7:00 am hour. However, I woke up around 4:00 am today for some odd reason. Unable to fall back asleep, I just stayed up until 8:15 am when I took a shower and got breakfast. I got on the bus promptly at 9:30 am, ready to take a trip to Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) Maritime Training Center, an academy that focuses on training individuals to become seafarers. The tour, though mostly focused on shipping and simulations of ships, had a section dedicated to the engine of the ships. As an engineer who has had quite the lack of engineering meetings on this trip, this peaked my interest. It was also very interesting to hear about the process that individuals must go through to recieve their certificate to become a seafarer.

After this tour, we went to get some food at a seafood place. Though not my favorite meal so far, possibly because most of the seafood is most likely imported from other locations, this establishment was quite good. After the meal, we traveled to a mosque named Hala Sultan Tekke. It had a tomb and remains of the older mosque, both of which were interesting to see.

After that, we traveled to Finikoudes Beach in Larnaca. The beach was very refreshing after a long day of meetings and bus rides. After the beach, we went back to hotel.

That’s all for the day. I am very excited to go to Paphos tomorrow and learn about the culture there as well as enjoy the beach. cya
