Saturday morning we woke up and began our trek to the other side of the island. Along the way we stopped at many different places. We first stopped at Kourion archaeological where we explored the ruins of an old town destroyed by an earthquake. It was really interesting to hear about a rich man in the town who had let poorer citizens use his bathrooms. After the quick tour we drove through British territory where a British military base lies. Quickly after leaving the British territory we arrived at Aphrodite’s Rock, the place where Aphrodite was born. It was a naturally beautiful place with 3 large rocks in the water, one we even got to climb! When we finally reached Paphos we took a tour of the Tomb of the Kings and Paphos Mosaics. Both were really cool as they had lots of old ruins which always make you think about how crazy old the remains are compared to American history. I finished off the night with a nice Italian dinner with a couple of people and then went to bed.
Sunday was a nice break day where nothing was planned and we just got the opportunity to enjoy ourselves. A bunch of us decided to head down to the beach where we spent the day playing with a soccer ball, enjoying the sun, and swimming in the ocean. Overall, it was very relaxing day and allowed for a much needed break from the past few action packed days. Finally, I finished out the day with a nice nap on the bus on the way back to Nicosia.
A great weekend in Paphos with lots of fun and sightseeing!
