Hi everyone, my name is Logan and I am currently finishing up my first year at the University of Pittsburgh’s College of Business Administration! I’ve loved everything about my freshman year and am excited to pursue a double major in Business Information Systems and Supply Chain Management with a minor in Mandarin Chinese Language and Culture. Post grad I hope to go into International Business specifically in IT and operations logistics. I am so excited to further my experiences in Cyprus this Summer with the Pitt Business Plus3 Program.
A little more about me, I am from a small residential beach town in New Jersey, Rumson, and have lived their my whole life. I enjoy the beach, hanging out with friends, and love to ski. I love the city of Pittsburgh and even more so, traveling and experiencing new places and cultures. I also like learning new languages: I speak Chinese, conversational Spanish, and know a bit of ASL. On campus I am involved in a few different organizations: Behavior Economics club, International Relations, and Supply Chain Management club.
I am so thankful to have heard about and been accepted into the Plus3 Program. I love getting involved and meeting new people so I choose this program to gain new experiences that can help me personally, academically, and professionally throughout my education and career. After an amazing freshman year meeting so many new people and adjusting to living in a new city, Plus3 is the perfect opportunity for me to get a taste of the pitt study abroad experience with likeminded peers geared toward my major.
I chose to travel to Cyprus focusing on global industries to gain a better understanding of the complexities and interdependencies of supply chain management in the global market. Cyprus initially piqued my interest because of its controversial location between three separate continents and its insane industry production capacity. The small nation ranks as number one in ship management globally, serving as an international hub for offshore gas and oil development as well as a leader in online gaming with emerging technology such as blockchain and cybersecurity. Being immersed in the business and culture of this country will provide me with interpersonal and critical thinking skills as well as improve my adaptability in a team setting. I hope that through all of our meetings and excursions I can also improve my global perspective and cultural awareness. These skills and everything I takeaway from this experience are all equally valuable in the professional world. I can’t believe my freshman year is almost over but I am so excited to get to know everyone on this adventure.
See you in Cyprus!
Logan Twining
