Hi! My name is Kali Burke. I am a Marketing major, and I am pursuing certificates in Public and Professional Writing and Corporate and Community Relations. Currently, I am interested in going into a career in advertising or copywriting. As my goals suggest, I am definitely more into the creative aspect of Marketing. At Pitt, I am a member of Alpha Kappa Psi and AMA. Being from just outside of Pittsburgh, I go to college close to home. With that being said, I hope to study abroad in Florence, Italy next spring.
As for my personal interests, I love to watch any and every reality competition series. Survivor, Big Brother, Dancing With the Stars, The Challenge, and The Amazing Race are just some of my favorites. I love listening to country music, and I have been to countless country concerts. I also have done soccer, gymnastics, and track through high school, so I enjoy staying active in any way, including skiing, waterskiing, riding quads, and anything outdoors. In addition, I am an adventure seeker, and I have even been skydiving. Like most people, I love to travel. Some of my most recent travels were to Italy and Switzerland, but I also love a good beach trip.
For the Plus 3 Program, I have decided to go to Amsterdam. I have selected Amsterdam over the other locations because I have heard that is very beautiful, especially in the spring when it is tulip season. I am very excited to try the different foods, like stroopwafels or maybe even herring. I am relatively particular when it comes to food, so I am challenging myself to keep an open mind. Academically, I hope this experience can give me the experience I need to feel confident to go abroad for a full semester. Professionally, I expect this experience will give me insight on some of the inner workings of companies, which can then help me decide what industry I may want to consider in the future.
I am counting down the days until we get to board our flight to the Netherlands. I cannot wait to get out of Holland Hall and into Holland!
