Hello and welcome to the first installment of a Half-Greek student’s journey to the Half-Greek country of Cyprus. Sadly, my other nationality is not Turkish, unlike Cyprus, but the narrative will do.
As an ambivalent first-year student at the Swanson School of Engineering of The University of Pittsburgh, I have chosen to study Industrial Engineering. My life outside of Swanson consists of countless hours on the Pitt Ice Hockey team along with being an avid New Jersey Devil’s fan. Feel free to ask me what my favorite kind of music is, but I will most likely answer with “yes”.
Growing up in a culturally diverse family caused the Plus 3 Cyprus program to catch my eye. I initially saw this as an opportunity to finally experience the words of my Greek-immigrated grandparents, but as I read more about the program, I learned about the contributions of Industrial Engineering to the success of Cyprus. I cannot wait to take advantage of this opportunity to learn about the global impact of Industrial Engineering.
