Hello, I am Kasie Hertzberg, a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh. My intended major is marketing, with a minor in digital media. I have chosen the plus three Netherlands program for several reasons. I initially heard about the plus three programs during admitted students’ days at Pitt. I remember it was something my mom and I found a fantastic opportunity and something I would defiantly be interested in. As the semester went on, I became interested in other abroad programs, such as the Maymester in Florence. After meeting with the study abroad department, I realized the plus three programs would best fit me. In the future, I would love to go overseas for a long time, but the plus three programs would offer me the perfect taste of what being abroad is like. My family also loves to travel, whether to tropical places or European countries. In 2019 we went to Italy, an experience I will never forget. When choosing a program, I sat down with my parents, and we discussed all the countries that interested me and the opportunities each of them provided. The Netherlands was my first option of the three I put down. Not only was it beautiful, but it was a place I might never go to with my family, which pulled me to it. I have always seen pictures of the flowers and windmills online of the Netherlands, but I couldn’t believe that this would be something I could see! On this trip, I hope to learn more about the Netherlands and Dutch culture. I am excited to see all the flowers and learn more at each site visit. I want to feel comfortable in a new country on my own and continue experiences like this. Overall, I am excited to see what the Netherlands has in store!
