Buses, planes, and shuttles later

This morning we tried to sleep in before our full day of flying. We played and few games last night and it was fun to be back in the dorms for just a night before our two weeks in Cyprus. We woke up and grabbed our last American breakfast, packed up our stuff and met outside Nordenburg hall to head to the PIT airport around noon. We were all able to check our bags in with mine weighing exactly 50.0, the check in agent was staring at the scale a little too long for my liking. Then, we went through security and had an hour to enjoy the pitt airport before we began our adventure.

Our first flight was a warm up for the rest, a quick hour to IAD. This first flight went off without a hitch and we had about 45 minutes in Dulles before our eight hours to Frankfurt. We left around 5 pm and after absolutely no sleep, a bit of turbulence, and three movies we got to Germany at around 8 am. We saw the sun set and then rise over the Atlantic.

Our curiosity got the best of us for the four hours in the German airport. We questioned the authenticity of the autobahn (which Germans were quick to defend) and then bought all the German food we could. We got hot dogs for less than one Euro and fresh pastries. It was hard to decide, partly because it was all written in german but mostly because it all looked so good. If we were this excited for the food in a german airport imagine how good the food will be in Cyprus. We all felt like we made up out lost six hour of time zone changes by exploring the airport. We’re so excited for Cyprus that we are just pushing through any signs of jet lag and have just under four more hours of flight time till we arrive. See you in Cyprus!
