Although we haven’t even arrived at our destination yet, our trip to Cyprus has begun! Friday night was a great chance to get to know everybody in the group, whether through a heated Jeopardy game, a trip to CVS, or bedazzling some cameras. Saturday started by saying goodbye to some friends who were staying in Pittsburgh and a delicious acai bowl for breakfast before beginning the long string of travel.
We started the day by taking the bus to the Pittsburgh International Airport where we boarded our first flight of the day to Washington D.C. As we were ascending, I looked out the window and was able to see the Cathedral and Acrisure Stadium. Seeing the familiar landmarks fade away was a reminder to myself that the trip was really happening and I started to get more excited!
The first flight was short and sweet, only less than an hour long. After landing in D.C. we hurried to our gate but were met with a delay. After waiting for a long time to board, we embarked on our 8-hour flight to Germany. Although I didn’t get much sleep, the food was pretty good and I got to catch up on some TV shows. Even the turbulence was kind of fun… until I realized we were on a plane and not a rollercoaster.
Once we finally landed in Germany, we decided to adjust to the 6-hour time difference by grabbing some German baked goods for breakfast. I got an almond pastry which was delicious. I also got to try some German chocolate. As we wait to board our final flight to Cyprus, I can’t wait to see what the next two weeks will bring and all the new memories I will make!
