The day has finally come for my Cyprus trip. It seems like I have been talking about it for so long and it was always far off into the future, but now it’s actually happening.
Friday morning, I said goodbye to friends going abroad as well. I spent the morning running to CVS for some last minute things on the plane. Then I met up with all the girls for breakfast at Starbucks, and brought along my Dunkin sourdough breakfast sandwich. We sat together and talked for a while until it was time to gather our belongings. I was sitting in Amos Starbucks and was starting to grow in excitement the more we talked. This was the first chance to get to know all of the girls and it was already going so well.
We finally left for the airport, and made our way to Dulles. The first thing we did at the airport was check in and check our bags. Problems had already started to arise as my friend Ben handed me his passport and apparently forgot he handed it to me. So after checking in my group’s bags, including Ben’s, he finally realized that I had his passport after I told him multiple times but I guess he didn’t hear me. So crisis averted, and he was able to calm down. Then we all made our way in the airport. The first flight of three went so fast. I fell asleep and I woke up and we were there so that was perfect. A group of 3 of us shared a surprisingly ok yogurt parfait with strawberries and granola as we waited for our next flight to Germany. We created a count off for staying together as a group. We walked past a store called Forbes in the Dulles airport and it gave me a gentle reminder of Pitt, and the amazing opportunity I was being given because of the University of Pittsburgh. I am so grateful for this opportunity that I have been given and I am so ready to tackle this great adventure in Cyprus!
