We started our trip with a day of flying. We woke up early to get breakfast as a group of guys at Pittsburgh’s finest, Pamela’s diner. Despite the initial wait, we were able to all sit as a group and begin creating a bond. Despite the tight fit we were all able to enjoy our Hungry Man meals and soon prepared for flight one.
The first flight took off out of Pitt around 3 and we quickly landed in Washington DC not more than an hour later. Despite how short the flight was, it didn’t come without a few problems. I was asked by my seat neighbor if I could take his bag off the plane for him, as he was busy dealing with his child. However, he and his family took very long to deplane, almost causing me to fall behind the group.
Upon arriving in D.C., we had to rush to find lunch, and after a peek at the long Chick-fil-a line I decided on a sandwich from a Forbes store (really went full circle). Boarding our second flight was delayed a bit, but eventually we got on our (much bigger) plane and got ready for the longest leg of our flight, into Germany.
Due to some noticeable turbulence on the flight, we all struggled to sleep. Some of us took some extreme measures in their attempts to catch Z’s (see above). We were fed some questionable tasting chicken and noodles with bread, but the cookie more than made up for it. I increased my knowledge in economics through watching Moneyball, and learned about business and law through a few episodes of Suits. With the time change, we landed nice and early in Frankfurt around 9 fresh off not much sleep, looking forward to flight three and eventually arriving in Cyprus!!
