Today is finally the day! Coming back to Pittsburgh when 95% of the campus was gone was an experience to say the least. While it was nice to catch up with friends and enjoy one more night in Oakland, you could feel the excitement in the air as we prepared to depart for our destinations.
Started my lovely Saturday with a quick breakfast and then we were out the door! We started the day with our first flight – a short 55 minute to DC and made our way to get ready for our redeye On this first flight I sat and chatted with a guy named Paul who was on his way back to his home and Switzerland. One of my favorite parts of traveling is getting to talk to new people from different places, so why not start on the plane!
After a short layover in DC, we made our way onto our long haul 8- hour flight to Frankfurt. Surprisingly, this flight flew by! I watched some movies, chatted with my row, and took a short nap. Some highlights were being able to see both the sunset and sunrise in one flight, the INCREDIBLE milk bar cookie we had for dessert (highly recommend) and being able to see Germany as we flew in. Being able to see Germany flying over was probably the highlight for me. It was so interesting to see how different their landscape was and how their towns and cities were set up.
We were very lucky to have such a smooth travel day, and only one more flight to go! It was such a crazy realization to be flying over Germany and realizing just how lucky we are to be having an experience like this! Although right now I am very discombobulated, and the time difference is definitely messing me up, I am so excited to arrive in Cyprus and experience all there is to see. Next stop, Cyprus.
