Starting my souvenir run today

Today has been an absolutely spectacular day! For one, the weather has surprisingly held up and has not been rainy like the rest of the week is forecasted, and I got to see plenty of really cool places and landmarks across the city. We opened the day with a very interesting lecture from Karel Bockstael at CREA, primarily about his time at KLM and his work in sustainability in the airline industry. Afterwards, we were let free amongst our pre-departure groups to complete a scavenger hunt revolving around The Fault in Our Stars. In the process, we got to visit many landmarks like the Rijksmuseum before meeting up with other groups for pictures until it was time to go to the Anne Frank House. The Anne Frank House was really cool, yet sad as I remembered how bad the Holocaust really was walking through the various rooms with the audio guide.

As we were not able to take pictures inside the museum, I was unable to share anything there with my mom, who was super excited about me going to the Anne Frank House. Instead, I got her a tote bag and some postcards from the gift shop with Mother’s Day and her birthday approaching. Soon after, I ventured down to the Johan Cruyff store, dedicated to one of the best footballers of all time who was a local legend in Amsterdam and AFC Ajax. There, I got myself a replica of his shirt from the 1971 European Cup final in which they won.

Having begun my run of souvenir purchases, I am already trying to save money going forward, yet I really hope I can find more for my mom’s birthday and also something for my dad and a few of my really good friends back home. Looking forward to everything I come across in the future!
