Today felt very, very, VERY long. I woke up for breakfast once again and got myself ready for an extremely wet and rainy day outside. We met up with everyone else and began to head for the tram station. Unfortunately, me and about half the group could not fit in the first tram that came and were left behind! While everyone was comfortable under the umbrellas, I was sat waiting with nothing but a rain jacket as my shoes and pants were already soaked. After a while of waiting, we finally met back up with the rest of the group and got off to take a train to our final destination. The train was INCREDIBLE, I loved it so much more than the Metro system back home in Washington, DC. They were super clean relative to back home and were so accessible, especially for those longer distances.
Upon our arrival at Zaanse Schans, we were learning how clogs were made and got a chance to look at some up close. This was one of the highlights of our day, and I nearly bought cow clog slippers for my Mom and her birthday. Then I got to indulge in some amazing Dutch cheeses and decided to bring one back home with me. Finally, we all had a pancake lunch before wrapping up, where I got a delicious cheese topped pancake. Somehow I never thought about cheese on pancakes until today but boy was it amazing.
As we have an extremely early morning ahead of us tomorrow, nothing much happened once we were let free. We all decided to go back and relax after getting dinner together considering we were very tired too. Tomorrow I plan on exploring even more of the city once we are let loose and potentially plan out new destinations we have yet to see too!
