Today’s adventure started with a walk to Griffith College where we heard a lecture from the owner of a company called TalentHub. During the lecture she talked about what company’s look for and the type of competencies that are most important currently in the job world. She got me thinking about my own career and how I can achieve my goals. The main takeaway I learned from the lecture was how to highlight my own competencies and how to identify them even without specific professional employment. I think my two strongest competencies are my customer service skills and my ability to work well in a team in whatever role I am needed. As I take steps towards my career, I know that these competencies will help me be more productive and adaptable, in regards to my job performance capabilities. She also mentioned how important our personal brand is. I know for me it is important that the people around me feel as though I am dependable and trustworthy. I also feel like my ability to form strong relationships is something I am constantly improving on. For me I also think it is important for me to embrace who I am and find others who appreciate that about me. Overall, from this lecture I was able to have a better grasp on many ideas as I move toward my next steps in my professional development.
Next we were able to explore Croke Park which is a GAA owned stadium. We learned a lot about the important history of the stadium and how influential Irish sports like Gaelic football and Hurley are to Irish culture. It was amazing to learn about how much pride is taken in these sports and the unity they create. Later we were able to explore and I spent more time in St. Stephen’s Green and even found a unique shopping mall. St. Stephen’s Green holds so much history and the atmosphere there is so peaceful it is truly unique. Overall, today I learned and saw so much and I look forward to the days to come as I continue to fall in love with this beautiful country!
