Excited For Monteverde!

Today we took about a 4 hour drive up to Monteverde out of the main city. The views here in comparison to Heredia are unreal and it makes me want to sit outside to enjoy the view the whole time we are here.

On the way up I was basically passed out the entire time, however, the occasional times I would wake up I saw how we were surrounded by an endless amount of trees and different types of nature. In addition, there were not many cars on the road. My perception of Costa Rica changed because in Heredia, the surroundings is not what I was picturing when I originally thought of Costa Rica. Here in Monteverde, the views are so pretty and makes me appreciative of Costa Rica.

During our talk with Don Ricardo Guindon, he told us about the history of Monteverde and how when the Quakers from Alabama settled here, they brought it to life. Soon the people marked boundaries in land and started to plant all around. The turning point was when the biologist was in the group and it transformed to more research based. They started to change to conservation purposes which sustains their environment. The Quakers brought in peace as well by getting rid of the army.
