Good day today: we had one site visit at 10am at The Guinness Enterprise Centre (GEC). The GEC provides office space and support for entrepreneurs and startups as well as resources so that they can grow. I found this type of business interesting, as I feel like I haven’t heard of an office space where multiple business are based out of and a bunch of employees working on different projects under one roof. To be honest it made me think of a hair salon: every stylist technically works for themselves and specializes in different things, but pays rent for a part of a space. It is really nice how GEC supports these small businesses, they are valuable to the economy and the resources they provide were so interesting to hear about.
My key takeaway was that maybe I am not cut out to be an entrepreneur. Truthfully, I feel like even though I have skills like delegation, ability to take risks, organization, etc… I do not think I could come up with an idea that would incline me to build a whole brand around it. Usually entrepreneurs start out a business plan because of passion and excitement and then discipline and routine take over. Assuming I wouldn’t have any staff or coworkers, staying accountable and goal setting wouldn’t be my issue in starting a business, but feeling passion and developing drive without a (healthy) competitive peer environment would be difficult. I admire anyone who takes the risk and builds a business from the ground up, I will always be cheering on from the sidelines!!
Overall, entrepreneurship isn’t for me, I’ll settle with becoming a CEO of a big time multimillion dollar company instead. (that’s a joke)
See you tomorrow!
PS We are going to a comedy club tonight I will let you know if it’s actually funny.
this is us on the roof of Google, I took barely any pics at GEC :(.
Since ‘Guinness’ is in the name of the business we visited today, this is me trying it for the first time it was so good!!!!!!!!!
