Today we visited the EPIC Museum. The EPIC museum provided a comprehensive overview of Irish migration and its impact on the world, offering visitors like myself a deeper understanding of Irish history. The interactive exhibits and personal stories advanced my knowledge of Ireland and helped me put myself into the past. I left knowing many notable names in irish history.
During our trip we have learned about alot of the impact internally to the nation. To my surprise, the museum emphasized the remarkable contributions that Irish emigrants have brought around the world, including their contributions to science, medicine, literature, and more. This let me appreciate the far-reaching influence of Irish culture and history. Secondly, the museum explored how Irish immigrants helped to popularize American sports such as baseball. Many irish emigrants saw the connections between baseball and hurling and found this as their way to assimilate into a new culture.
My favorite part of the museum was the information on Irish dancing in the cultural exhibit. The museum had a sit down area to watch a stream of irish dancing performances. These videos showcased the precision of Irish dance and the elegance of movement. I found myself in awe of the performance and left with a new appreciation for the skill involved in this genre of dance.
