This morning, we visited the EPIC museum located near the docklands. This was a very unique museum that I have never experienced before. We get a passport that we have to get stamps on from each location on it. It was fun going around and collecting all the stamps after seeing what each section had to offer.
My favorite part of the museum was the sports section where it went more in-depth on the history of Gaelic football and hurling. I am a huge sports fanatic and being able to learn about the unique sports in Ireland and how different it is compared to America.
The history and development of Gaelic games, such as hurling, camogie, and gaelic football, are highlighted in the sports display at the EPIC museum. Visitors can discover more about the history, regulations, and cultural significance of these sports in Ireland. Additionally, the museum has interactive stations where visitors can try their hand at hurling or Gaelic football.
The histories of some of Ireland’s best athletes are also included in the museum’s sports display. Visitors can discover more about the accomplishments of well-known Irish athletes including Paul McGrath, Katie Taylor, and Brian O’Driscoll. The exhibit also highlights the distinctive role that sport has had in Irish history and society, particularly in promoting a feeling of community and bringing people together.
