Horses, pigs, and bikes? Oh my!

What a day of fun. To spend our Saturday, we held back on the lectures and began the day by visiting the Basilica of Lujan while they were having a ceremony. This beautiful structure has years and years of history and now hosts hundreds of Argentina’s people to practice their religion. The murals inside the building are breath-taking to say the least. One thing that I admired was the line to confessions, a totally different dynamic I’ve never seen and was in awe. After our quick stop at the Basilica, we headed to our main destination- Rodizio Campo Lujan.

Rodizio Campo is a ranch full of farm animals, activities, and MEATS! This ranch is best described as almost like a country club mixed with a farm. As we arrived, you can see the fantastic land full of beautiful horses and I instantly knew it would be a good time. We started off with lunch which was an eight course meal of various different cuts of pork and beef. I have never been tired of a good steak but man, a meat break is needed! Once I was filled like a balloon, Makayla, Marissa and I made our way to the playground swings and acted like kids again. Then I confronted one of my fears… riding a bike. I know it sounds silly but as a child I had got into a bike accident and it’s been 10 years since i’ve rode. Today, I wanted to change that and where else better than Argentina! It was liberating. We also visited the farm area and got to pet some pigs and goats! Lastly, a couple of the girls and I tried archery. I am no natural to this, didn’t even make it on the target but you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take! I loved this ranch, if I ever make it back to Argentina, this place is a must.

Mother’s day is here and I wanted to mention the woman who made my life possible. My mother is no longer with us but she’s been with me each day throughout the whole trip. She was a strong, independent, caring woman who fought her way through addiction, poverty, discrimination, abuse and would let nothing stop her children from doing above and beyond. It’s because of her I do not fear doing the impossible. She was my best friend, my idol, my ride or die, my day one, my world. Everything I do today is in honor of her. My mother knew I’d become something big and go far. She would be proud but not surprised of my accomplishments… she always believed in me. I see you in the sunrise, the sunset, the stars, the moon and sun, in rain and sunshine, and in me. I love you momma,
