All Around Germany

Girls in Regensburg!

We started off the day with a trip to Regensburg, which is one of Germany’s largest cities! This city was very special because during the wars that took place in Germany, Regensburg remained untouched. Niko said that some of the buildings were older than our founding of the USA, which I thought was a little funny. When we first got to the city we met up with our tour guide who was the sweetest lady. I found her to be very interesting when she was speaking about the city and she seemed to be very educated on all of her Regensburg history. A lot of the houses are very close and have a courtyard sort of in the middle of them, we learned that many concerts are hosted there when the weather is a little bit warmer and that a lot of the housing in the city is full of college students and younger folks trying a spin on the old city.

The city showed us so much history and if I were to move to one place in Germany it would be to Regensburg. I completely fell in love and the beauty of the city took over me. After our tour we had free time so some of us decided to grab lunch. It is a known thing that Germans make good pizza, but they should say big pizzas. I ordered a pizza thinking it would be. normal size, but to my surprise it was enough to feed our whole group. So many people helped me finish this pizza so they got a nice little free lunch. After lunch I got some gifts to bring back for family and friends and then we went to a really good gelato place. Our group was kind of obsessed with gelato so we got A LOT of “ice cream” on this trip. Right before we had to go we stopped into this old church, when first entering it was so dark I could barely see. Eventually my eyes adjusted to reveal one of there prettiest churches I have ever been in. We finally got back on the bus and headed over to our next location….

Our next stop was Walhalla. I was not really sure what we were going to see here. We all got off the bus and went on a little hike to reveal a huge building that resembled Greek architecture. This was on a hill looking over the country side of Germany. The view was spectacular and the trip made for a good workout for everyone, especially Noah who decided to sprint his way up all the stairs we had to climb. Going into the building, you immediately saw statues of famous and important people through German history. There was also a huge statue dedicated to King Ludwig, who became a very important person throughout our trip! After leaving the building we all took a break right outside the steps and just stared at the gorgeous view.
