Lots o’ Lectures

Today we went to UNIC for 4 different lectures. UNIC is the number one university in Europe for clock chain and crypto currency. We first met with Antonis Polemitis CEO, University of Nicosia teaching Fellow/MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency School of Business, Department of Economics and Finance, UNIC. He gave us a lecture detailed the idea of databases and how every day we interact with millions of databases. He broke down the idea of blockchain and how it can be used in our lives. No modern society can function without data bases. All data bases have TTP or SPOF in them. Pre internet, it was somebodies job to check and overseee what went to print. You could not print something unless it was approved. The world have changed with the wave of the internet and this is no longer the case.

The business perspective of power in this is that now it is vested in a few top companies. Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, Uber, and Airbnb are all companies that offer centralizes services in a monopolized fashion. This architecture is changing the future. We reviewed a few different case studies in American culture: the argument if President Donald Trump should have a twitter account shows the role of these companies in modern America. I think certain architecture of environments – centralized or decentralized – are beer used for certain companies. Bitcoin and other crypto currency are on the rise for their usefulness and efficiency.

Our next lecture was about supply chain and forecasting followed by data science. Data science provides the tooling for the efficient extraction of knowledge with the correctness of the results statistically validated so that decisions are based on the data in hand. The increase in data improves the outcomes, however it is not efficient to increase machine learning to supply its now information.

After lunch at the block, we visited the Pharmacy Lab and had Hands-on Experience at UNIC Pharmacy Labs. In Cyprus they focus on native animals in their procedures, they extract polymers from native spices to make cosmetic-focused medince including ozemspic.
