Visiting Utrecht and Aurea Imaging

The day started with us traveling to Utrecht by train. There we met up with Sophia who took us to Aurea Imaging. We received a presentation on what exactly the company does and is involved in. They deal with agriculture engineering for farms. A way of identifying problems is by using drones which collect data from crops and plants around the land. The technology involves plant counting and emergence statistics, monitoring vegetation development, canopy height and health, detection of specific plant traits.

Then we received a tour of the building. They have a really nice work environment for the employees as they have a gym, yoga rooms, and therapeutic talking room. The workers seemed to be happy and enjoyed being there. The company fed us lunch and we were served really good sandwiches and sides. I can definitely see the customer to concert aspect as the company makes a product that is custom to the customer. The customer comes to the company with a problem and the company tries to fix it. With these ideas in mind, you can see the supply chain and how it works. I found this company interesting because I didn’t realize that drones could be used to help out farms and make this much of an impact.

After that, Sophia gave us a tour of the city where Dr. Bursic bought us really good Italian gelato. I tried the passion fruit cheesecake which I feel has a unique flavor. The architecture in the city is very pretty. My friends and I continued to walk throughout the city and explore more. Then we returned to Amsterdam where we tried out a good sushi bar for dinner. I ended up getting a California roll and a salmon mango roll. They both were really good. You can see the salmon mango roll below. Overall, today was educational and adventurous.
