About Myself
Hi! My name is Lauren Mucciola. I am currently a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh intending to major in marketing. At Pitt I’m involved in several student organizations, including Alpha Delta Pi, Fashion Business Association, and Girl Gains. My chosen Plus 3 program is the Netherlands, which I am super excited for. This will be the third country I have visited abroad, as I’ve also been to Greece and Italy. I love all things fashion and art, so I am especially excited to take in the different styles and creative aspects of being in a new country! Professionally I would like to use my marketing degree to work in the fashion industry and digital media one day, as I have had experience with this through working with my high school and several clubs on campus.
The Netherlands
The Plus 3 program I have decided to journey on is to The Netherlands. As I mentioned earlier, I have been abroad before to Greece and Italy, so I already have experience traveling to Europe. I absolutely loved my time in Europe previously and was dying to get another chance to return. I knew Plus 3: The Netherlands would be the perfect opportunity to do just that. Personally, I love the artistic elements of European countries. As a big art and fashion enthusiast, getting the opportunity to explore the artistically rich cities of Amsterdam and Rotterdam is something I hugely look forward to. One of my favorite artists is Vincent Van Gogh, so I am also hoping we get to visit the museum located in Amsterdam housing many of his famous pieces!
Academically, I wish to gain knowledge of not only international business practices, but also the rich history and culture of the Netherlands. Professionally, learning about sustainability practices in businesses is such a huge part of today’s world. We are at an environmentally delicate point globally, and as a future employee in the corporate world, learning about what the future looks like for our planet and how companies can save it is vital information that I highly value learning about. Also, desiring to work in a fashion or beauty-based company, the idea of concept to consumer is huge in such a business. I hope to use what I learn in my classes to help me navigate this industry one day.
I am so grateful for this opportunity to study abroad and experience the world, and I cannot wait to write more blog posts about my experiences.
