Hi everyone! My name is Jessica Mohney. I am from Butler, Pennsylvania, which is around an hour north of Pittsburgh. I am currently a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh pursuing an industrial engineering degree. Further, my interests lie in operations research and data analytics. My academic drive is through my passions for math and the fusion of innovation and efficiency. So far in my first year at the Swanson School of Engineering, I have learned important collaboration and leadership skills I hope to utilize in this exciting opportunity.
In my free time, I love to participate in recreational sports, such as soccer, and jump at any chance to travel. A perfect reset for me is spending time with my friends outdoors and exploring the city of Pittsburgh. I partially chose Pitt for the first year abroad options, so I am so grateful to be able to take part in the Plus 3 Program.
My program is Plus 3 Cyprus. I chose Cyprus because it aligned well with my future goals and intended major. Through Plus 3, I will fulfill my abroad requirement for industrial engineering, while simultaneously satisfying an IE elective. Cyprus is also one of the safest countries to travel to as a young woman.
I was mostly driven to Cyprus for its shipping ports and involvement in the supply chain. Its unique location makes it a crossroads between Europe and Asia important for the stability of the Mediterranean region. Its position has also made Cyprus rich in history. I am excited to experience the culture and architecture firsthand. This is a remarkable opportunity to enhance my learning and experiences. I am so lucky to be chosen and excited to participate in Cyprus Plus 3!
