Hello! My name is Jacob Malecki. I am from Wayne, New Jersey. I am currently a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh studying Mechanical Engineering. My choice for this major stems from my interest in motorsports and aviation and I hope to pursue a career in those areas. I enjoy skiing, playing soccer and volleyball and spending time outdoors. Here at Pitt I am a part of Pitt Formula SAE.
This summer I will be a part of the Plus3- Netherlands program. I have traveled to Europe many times but they have only been to Poland, which is why I am very excited to travel to a new part of Europe and learn more about Netherlands culture. I chose the Netherlands since it is one of the many places I want to travel to and there are many sites located here that I find fascinating, one of which being the Delta Works. I plan to learn about engineering and business in the Netherlands and how it compares and differs to other places around the world. I hope to be able to take some stuff I learn from this trip and apply it to what I learn here at Pitt and and in the future.
