Hi everyone. My name is Nick Gesualdi and I am a first-year student at the Swanson School of Engineering and a member of the Frederick Honors College. I am originally from King of Prussia, PA, and I chose to come to Pitt because I have family who went here and I wanted to go to school in a city. I am currently pursuing a mechanical engineering degree and I am also considering a certificate in possibly sustainability and/or German. I have a great interest in the automotive industry and motorsport, and I hope to one day work as engineer in this discipline. I enjoy soccer, snowboarding, music, movies, and hanging out with friends. Here at Pitt I am currently a part of the Panther Racing FSAE team and I hope to become more involved with the team in the coming semesters.
This summer I will be travelling to Ho Chi Minh City as part of the Vietnam Plus 3 program, and I am beyond excited to go on this trip. I decided to apply to go on this trip because although I have travelled to numerous countries outside of the United States, I have never been anywhere in Asia. I am excited to experience a culture that is very different from where I am from, and also to experience a country that is undergoing rapid development. Vietnam is a fascinating country with a rich history that I can’t wait to explore. I am also excited to see examples globalization in Vietnam’s industry, while also gaining a better understanding of how business and professional relationships are conducted in a country that is not the United States. As someone interested in working as an engineer in the automotive industry, it is important to understand how to conduct business in countries around the world, not just in the US. Overall, I can’t wait to get started and I’m certain this is an experience I will remember for years to come.
