Hi everyone! My name is Caroline Parker, and I am a first-year Nursing Student from New Jersey. I am an active member of the Nursing Student Association as well as the outdoors club. After completing my BSN, I hope to continue my education and receive a masters in Nurse Midwifery.
In my free time, I love to explore new places whether it be coffee shops I haven’t tried to different restaurants. I also like to hike, thrift, and read whenever I can. In traveling to Argentina, I am looking forward to experiencing new cultures, languages, and customs and getting to know the people that are in my group as well!
Traveling to Argentina is an opportunity for me to acquire global skills, experiences, and first-hand knowledge of the impacts of globalization on healthcare in a middle-income country as well as the global burden of diseases, determinants of health, and health and economic inequality. I will gain international experience and skills in intercultural sensitivity, the ability to deal with ambiguity, and how I can adapt to new surroundings. In being able to participate in this study abroad program, I will have a better insight and transition into my clinical journey next fall and an overall better understanding of how healthcare systems collaborate and foster inclusivity in all senses and where I can contribute to that as a nurse. This is the environment and opportunity in which I want to be able to learn and prepare to be the best nurse possible.
