Pre-Departure: One Day Until Korea

We leave for South Korea tomorrow morning and I could not be more excited and filled with anticipation. I have prepared as much as possible and am ready to visit and experience all the unique aspects of South Korea. I have triple-checked everything, and I hope that I have not forgotten anything. I have also bought five books to keep me entertained in my traveling downtime. I am a little nervous, but that comes with traveling abroad. I have planned out all the places I want to visit and all the food I want to try, so I hope that nothing goes astray throughout our travel.

Today I arrived in Nordenberg and I am blown away. The dorms are so much better and livelier than the dorm room I stayed in throughout my first year. Bigger rooms and more lounge space is an amazing luxury. However, we had many issues with our room, which were not resolved for many hours after my roommate’s and I’s arrival. We then met with the rest of the Plus3 South Korea group. There we ate and played a game about emergency packing. My group (engineering boys) had the most creative and useful items to bring. I still think we should have won.

I am excited to visit the numerous companies throughout the program. Specifically, I am intrigued to see the Samsung Innovation Museum and Hyundai because I see these companies everywhere and I’m ready to learn more. I am also excited about the numerous site visits because of the new culture I will experience. All of this has been in the back of my mind today. Now I need to prepare for my departure, which is at 2:40, and for the long flight ahead of me. I could not be more thrilled to go on this trip.
