This is a picture of the Kolossi Castle
Today we started off with a brief introduction to the island of Cyprus. Orientation went smoothly and there was a lot of information to retain. The most interesting part of the presentation was how Americans usually don’t visit Cyprus.
We then traveled to Kourion. Our tour guide was super helpful and informative. The most interesting part about this visit was the multiple bath areas. They had a cold bath and a warm bath. To warm the bath they used the warm air. The ruins looked untouched from earlier periods which was super interesting. The mosaics in the tiles were one of my favorite parts.
Another historical site we visited was the Kolossi Castle. Again, our tour guide was so helpful with painting a picture of the time period. At the very top of the castle there were windows where we took photos. Guards would stand at the top of the castle to protect it with bows. An interesting design in the castle was the spiral staircase. It was super steep but neat to climb.
Our last stop was the Marine in Limassol and Old City area. This is one of my favorite areas so far. There are so many food options and neat places everywhere you turn. One of the most popular shopping streets is in this area, but unfortunately, because of holiday, most of the stores were closed. I would love to go there another day though!
