Our second day in Germany started with taking a trip to Augsburg’s campus. It was our first time taking the tram and we all got to feel like the locals. After we arrived we had a short meeting with just the American students about the day ahead then the German students joined us. We split into our groups and put together a short presentation of an overview of each of our companies. After we presented, Patrick Will joined us over zoom to speak about Audi.
After our morning in the classroom, we headed over to the universities cafeteria to get lunch. The German students were so kind to show us what foods to get and where to check out. The cafeteria was filled with students which was surprising due to the fact that the classrooms prior were pretty empty. The environment felt very fast paced especially for us American students. We all sat together and continued to get to know the German students a little bit more.
After lunch we got a campus tour from the German graduate students. It was fun to see Ausburg’s campus through the lenses of a student. It showed us what life really felt like from their point of view. The weather was not in our favor and it started raining. Not all of us had umbrellas but those who did were kind enough to share. I will never forget us running around campus in the rain. After touring the school and more parts of the city, we went to a bier tasting. It was reminiscent of home.
After the bier tasting, we headed over to dinner and had Italian. It was by far my favorite meal I’ve had on the trip so far! We got to sit all together which I enjoyed and we chatted about American sports teams and were giving the German exchange students suggestions of activities to do when they are in Pittsburgh.
Today was very tiring but very unforgettable. We got a lot done in such a short period of time and I am excited to see what the remainder of the trip brings!
